Humans of KBS: Klara Jirouskova

Published 11 October 2017

We’re proud of our students at KBS. They come to study with us from all over the world, eyes filled with hope for the future. They work hard to shape the futures they want for themselves, learning English and adapting to Australian society on top of completing their studies. They’re a diverse and wonderful group of people. We’ve decided to celebrate who they are with a special series of posts all about them. Welcome to Humans of KBS.

Meet Klara. She’s studying a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) at our Adelaide campus. We asked her a few questions to find out what makes her a unique human. Her answers may inspire you.

Give us two sentences about what makes you, you!

I’m always on the move, engaging in various activities. I love being challenged and learning new stuff.

What have you gained from your time at KBS so far?

Thanks to KBS I now analyse and evaluate everything in my life differently. My soft skills and confidence have also improved significantly.

What are you most proud of in life?

I am proud of myself. I’m pleased that I decided to relocate to an English-speaking country to obtain tertiary education. As a mature age student, I undertook a new course to change my career path, which is something that makes me proud of myself.

If you could spend 10 minutes talking to someone on a park bench, who would it be?

Hypatia of Alexandria or Cleopatra. I’ve always been so fascinated by Ancient History!

If you could choose one superpower, what would it be?

I would like to be able to change people’s mindsets and hearts. I would like to be able to turn greedy, selfish and closed-minded people into loving and compassionate human beings, to make the world a better place.

If one of your friends was visiting from overseas, where would you take them in Adelaide?

I would start by taking them to the State Library, followed by a visit to the Science Museum. Afterwards, we would grab lunch at the Central Market and take a bike ride next to the River Torrens. Then, we’d cycle straight to Henley Beach where we would watch the sunset over a glass of red wine from the Barossa Valley.

I hope you enjoy the poster I put together which epitomises my journeys at KBS and in Adelaide!

What did you want to be when you were young, and how does that compare to what you want to be now?

I wanted to be an astronaut, professional athlete or a director. Studying marketing gives me the opportunity to explore new universes while working hard like an athlete.

If you could choose an international leader to be your mentor for the day, who would it be?

Barrack Obama, as he is a master of public speaking and a very kind person.

What are you most looking forward to in the future?

I am looking forward to getting a job in the field I am studying – digital marketing. I would like to become the best in the industry.
