Last week, KBS hosted the careers workshop, ‘How to Get a Job in Australia’, presented by Naren Chellapah, the Director and Head Career Coach of The Australian Careers & Employment Centre for International Students (ACECIS). In this workshop, he shared his wealth of industry experience and knowledge with our Melbourne students.
Naren discussed the challenges for jobseekers, particularly for overseas students who can sometimes face difficulties when entering the job market. Naren went on to talk about how an effective strategy and plan can help you overcome these challenges — he provided insight on how to write an attractive cover letter and resume, and emphasised the importance on being proactive in building relationships.
Lastly, he provided some excellent tips on how to make the most of the digital technology available to us in regards to finding jobs online.
Personally I found the practical and technical advice incredibly valuable, and it was definitely useful for those who want to learn more about the Australian job market.
