External Financial Aid and Support

A number of state and federal government authorities, along with a wide range of community-based organisations, offer extensive financial assistance and support.

We’ve collated these below to make them easy for you to access. Please note, all external websites and services are subject to change.

NATIONAL

ADELAIDE

  • The Office of the Training Advocate (OTA) provides South Australia's international students a free advisory service to support them with legal issues.
  • Baptist Care SA Community Food Hub is run in partnership with Foodbank SA and provides free bread, fruit and vegetables and essential items at a reduced cost.
  • Foodbank SA Food Hubs offer an affordable shopping experience, providing a wide range of food, groceries and personal care items at significantly reduced prices. KBS students experiencing financial hardship can register to receive a "customer pays" referral voucher.

BRISBANE

  • Study Queensland Student Hub enables students to book virtual appointments with student support officers.
  • The Queensland Government have an Emergency Relief Program that provides financial and other support to Queenslanders in need.
  • Tenancy and rental advice can be sought from the Queensland State-wide Tenancy, Advice and Referral Service (QSTARS).
  • Tenants Qld has a Fact Sheet specifically for international students.
  • Wesley Mission Queensland - Drop-in service located in Brisbane CBD, emergency relief offers weekday access to food packs.

MELBOURNE

  • Study Melbourne – can assist you to access services in the community, and provides free and confidential information, support and practical help.
  • Rent Relief Grant is for Victorians experiencing hardship due to COVID-19. (Applications open until 28 March 2021)
  • Working for Victoria Fund helps Victorians, including people who have lost their jobs due to the economic impacts of coronavirus (COVID-19), find new work opportunities.
  • Red Cross Emergency Relief Support offers financial relief to meet urgent needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Foodbank International Student Pop Up store – free Access to fresh and culturally diverse range of products. Open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10am – 2pm (excludes Public Holidays).

PERTH

  • Study Perth provides the details for a range of support available and has established a Crisis Relief program to address the acute needs of international students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and associated restrictions.
  • There are many jobs in Perth for international students while they study and after graduation. Please visit the Job Board for opportunities.
  • St Patrick’s Community Support Centre has emergency relief appointments providing food vouchers, clothing and transport vouchers, bills and advocacy.

SYDNEY

  • Study NSW International Students Welfare Services Hub provides support for those who experience any challenges and obstacles.
  • Insider Guides – A guide to Covid 19 Support for Students in NSW
