English Language Courses
Kaplan Business School offers a range of English Language programs for those students who need to improve their English proficiency before commencing their studies with us.
Our English for Academic Purposes course is designed for students to develop the necessary language and study skills to fulfil academic tasks needed for future study in an academic environment.
The course focuses on speaking, listening, reading and writing in an academic context, as well as academic skills such as note-taking, summarising, academic writing, referencing and giving oral presentations.
Our course is aimed at students aspiring to advanced education that requires complex and specific language and communication skills.
The English for Academic Purposes course will help students improve their English proficiency to prepare for further studies.
At the end of the course, the students can achieve the following:
Listening
- Listen to academic lectures and use effective note-taking strategies
Reading
- Read using various techniques to comprehend academic texts
Speaking
- Prepare and deliver oral presentations
- Participate in informal and formal discussions
Study Skills
- Apply various study skills, including referencing, group work strategies, time organisation, and exam and study techniques

Entry Requirements:
To enrol in this course, there is no prior educational level requirement.
A student must have one of the following to enter the course:
For EAP1:
- Intermediate (B1) English (as indicated by KITE or previous study), or
- IELTS 5.0 (with a minimum 5.0 in writing), TOEFL 37, PTE 35 or equivalent - copies of certificates to be presented when enrolling in the course
For EAP2:
- Higher Intermediate (B2) English (as indicated by KITE or previous study), or
- IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum 5.5 in writing), TOEFL 46, PTE 42 or equivalent – copies of certificates to be presented when enrolling in the course
Students must be 18 years or above.

Our General English course is designed for students who need to develop their language and communication skills for use in everyday English-speaking environment. The course focuses on the main skills of language – reading, writing, listening and speaking, as well as grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary – in real-life situations.
The General English course is for students who want to improve their English for everyday communication.
From the course, the students can achieve the following:
Listening
- Understand and follow spoken texts and instructions
Reading
- Read and comprehend a wide range of texts
Speaking
- Discuss and give presentations on various topics
Writing
- Write about various topics including personal experience and general interest

To apply for an English language course, you will need to complete a KITE test with us and we can help you with your study plan.
WHAT IS KITE?
KITE (Kaplan International Tool for English) is Kaplan’s advanced, cloud-based, adaptive English language assessment. Understanding your needs allows us to place you in the correct class and fine-tune your learning experience. ^
STEP 1
Download and complete the application form. Enrolment terms and conditions apply.
STEP 2
Provide certified* copies of your:
- Passport
- High school certificates and transcripts (if applicable)
- English proficiency documents e.g. IELTS test certificate or equivalent (if applicable)
- Degree completion certificate and transcripts (if applicable)
- Work experience details (if applicable)
* Please note that these documents must be certified by a Kaplan Business School representative or authorised education agent, a Public Notary or a Justice of the Peace in Australia.
STEP 3
We will notify you after receiving your application whether you have been accepted or not. If accepted, you will receive an Offer of Admission to study.
STEP 4
To proceed with your enrolment, you will need to:
- Login to online Applicant Portal
- Submit the evidence required to meet the condition(s) outlined in the Offer (if applicable)
- Carefully read your offer including Terms and Conditions
- Accept the Offer and complete the payment in the Applicant Portal
STEP 5
Once you receive your electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) from us you can proceed to apply for an Australian student visa.
