Although many of the recent incidents have occurred in Melbourne, we wish to reassure our current students and anyone looking to study at our Melbourne campus that we are located in a relatively safe area. The campus is located in Parkville, part of the university precinct and is well lit at night, secure and very close to public transport.
While the recent events have attracted a lot of media attention, it is important to remember that statistically and when compared to other cities in the world, Melbourne is a relatively safe place to live and study. The Victorian Police website shows that for every 100,000 people only approximately 2.7% experience anything likened to an “assault”. This is comparatively very low to other major cities around the world such as those in the US and UK.
Students with night classes at our Melbourne campus are invited to discuss their travel arrangements with the College Director. A police liaison officer also regularly visits the School to discuss safety with students.
Any prospective students, or their families, who still have safety concerns are invited to contact the School and speak with our current international students to discuss their experience at Kaplan Business School.
