Q1: Can I study part-time?

A: Yes. Australian citizens and permanent resident holders have the choice of studying either full or part-time. Kaplan Business School provides flexibility for students who want to pursue their study whilst meeting the demands of a busy lifestyle and work commitments. Classes are also available in the evening. International students must study full-time to meet their student visa requirements.

Q2: What are the entry requirements for Kaplan Business School courses?

A: Entry requirements are different for domestic and international students. Please refer to the entry requirements listed under the course of your choice for more information or contact the School for further assistance.

Q3: What are the course fees?

A: Please see the Fees page for detailed information.

FEE HELP is also available to eligible fee-paying students to help pay part or all of their tuition fees up to a lifetime limit of $83,313. Further information regarding FEE HELP can be found in our FEE HELP section.

Q4: Can I apply for Centrelink benefits if I am a domestic student studying full-time?

A: Yes – the Diploma of Commerce has been approved for Youth Allowance, ABSTUDY, Pensioner Education Supplement. Students in this course may apply for these payments

Q5: What units are studied in the courses?

A: Please refer to the Unit of Study information listed under the course of your choice for more information.

Q6: Are the courses accredited?

A: Yes. All our courses are accredited and recognised by the relevant government bodies and educational institutions. Our students can either choose to use the Diploma as a pathway to university or as a qualification to prepare them for a relevant career in business.

Our Postgraduate accounting courses are accredited with CPA Australia (CPAA), The Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAA) and the National Institute of Accountants (NIA). This enables our students to articulate directly into their prominent programs.

Q7: Am I able to apply for entry to second year at a university in a double degree course upon completion of the Diploma of Commerce?

A: Kaplan Business School graduates can articulate into second year of some double degrees. Please refer to our university pathways page for further information or contact us at the School.

Q8: Can I apply for credit transfer if I have previously studied similar units?

A: Yes, you can apply for credit transfer. Please contact us for details on what information is required as well as an application form. Please note that units of study for which credit transfer has been awarded will not be included in the GPA calculation.

Q9: Do you offer any scholarships?

A: Unfortunately at this stage, we are not offering any scholarships.

Q10: Can mature age students study at Kaplan Business School?

A: Mature age students are accepted at Kaplan Business School if they meet the relevant entry requirements.

Q11: When are your intakes?

A: We have three intakes per year for all our courses: March, June and October.

Q12: How many contact hours will I have every week?

A: Students will study up to 20 hours per week in the Diploma of Commerce and up to 16 hours per week in our Postgraduate accounting courses.

Q16: Am I able to transfer between the Master of Professional Accounting and Master of Accounting Studies?

A: The Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) is a subset of the Master of Accounting Studies (MAS) meaning that students enrolled in the MPA must complete 12 units of study compared with the MAS students who need to complete 16 units of study.

Students who have successfully completed the MPA can choose to go on and complete an additional four units of study to achieve their MAS qualification.

Q17: What assistance is available if I am struggling with my studies?

A: You will be provided with study skills assistance during orientation and will be informed of our expectations of you as a student during your course at Kaplan Business School.

Students are encouraged to work independently and plan and manage their time effectively. Students who are struggling academically will be linked to specialist educational services such as tutors/academic counsellors.

Q18: I need to find accommodation while I’m studying, can Kaplan Business School assist?

A: You will have the choice of staying in a homestay, hostel or independent rental accommodation – dependent on your individual needs. Homestay is ideal for students who want an uniquely Australian experience by staying with an Australian family and also gives a great opportunity to improve your English.

Students who wish for a little more independence and privacy can choose to stay in a hostel or independent rental (only to students over 18 years of age). Please be aware that prices will vary between the different types of accommodation as will their proximity to campus. Our Student Services team can assist you with organising accommodation.
