This subject explores how healthcare managers plan, direct, coordinate and supervise the effective delivery of healthcare and social services in a variety of organisations. The focus is on the leadership, organisational, financial and ethical issues that are specific to the healthcare sector. The concept of the population approach to healthcare management is explored by developing an awareness of the notion of ‘the determinants of health’ and gaining a basic insight into epidemiology.
