CORPORATE BOARD

The KBS Corporate Board provides strategic leadership and is the governing authority of Kaplan Business School. The primary objective of the Board is to oversee the affairs of KBS with good governance. Through relevant processes the Board ensures that the appropriate structures, policies, processes and planning are in place for KBS to effectively manage its activities and achieve its goals.

ABOUT THE CORPORATE BOARD

The Board adopts the, “Guiding principles of good governance”, published by the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Adoption of these principles helps to ensure that the Board manages the affairs of KBS with proper oversight and accountability.

The Board is comprised of members with the relevant skills, expertise, experience and background to provide good governance for KBS.  

CORPORATE BOARD MEMBERS

Andrew Gonczi is widely known and respected in Australia and internationally for his leadership in a range of education and training areas.

Until the end of 2005, Andrew was Professor of Education at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) and was Dean of the Faculty of Education from 1997 to mid 2005. From 2006-2009 he was honorary Professor at the University of Sydney in the Faculty of Education and Social Work. From 2006 to 2008 he was Director of SydneyLearning at the University of Sydney. He was honorary Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney from 2010 to 2014, where he was Director of Clinical Education and later Director of Educational Innovation.

Until March 2019 he was the Chair of the Academic Boards of Kaplan education businesses. He is also chair of the Academic Boards of Macleay College and Collarts.

Between 2006 and 2014 he was Principal of Andrew Gonczi P/L where he undertook projects for, amongst others: Billy Blue Group, Whitehouse Institute of Design, The Migration Agents Registration Authority, Insearch, FINSIA, Actuaries Institute, the University of Wollongong, Purcell y Povea Consultants-Chile.

His specialist academic area has been education for occupations – specifically professional education, vocational education and training and professional development. He has led the development of educational programs in many professional organisation in Australia and also in Mexico, the Middle East, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and China. Andrew has published extensively in the above areas as well as in some aspects of school education.

Tricia Vilkinas PhD., M.Psych., Dip. Psych., B.Comm., B.Sc 

 

Tricia has held a number of positions at the University of South Australia, including, Adjunct Professor, Foundation Professor of Management, Head of the International Graduate School of Management and was a long-standing member of several of the university’s key governance bodies such as Academic Board

Prior to working at the University of South Australia, Tricia was the Associate Director at the Graduate School of Business, University of Adelaide. In her earlier career she held academic positions at the University of Newcastle, Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology, and Queensland University. She has not always been in academia spending some years in the clothing industry as a change agent.

Tricia has also consulted to many organizations delivering executive and management development programs as well as strategic planning. Some of the organizations employing her services were DSTO, Telstra, MOBIL, the Commonwealth public service senior executive program, and several government departments.

Tricia is involved in ongoing research centered on leadership and is currently publishing in this area as well as receiving research funding.

Rob has a strong history of leadership and a proven track record of performance across a wide range of industries.

Starting his career with PriceWaterhouseCoopers before moving through the retail, mining and technology industries, Rob has focused his attention on the domestic and international education sectors for the past decade.

Having worked with Kaplan since 2006, Rob has held various executive positions including Chief Financial Officer of the international business based in London and most recently heading up the Australia/New Zealand operations.

Rob believes in the transformative power of education so that people can achieve their potential.

As CEO of Kaplan International, David Jones is responsible for Kaplan’s English study abroad business and university pathway colleges for international students. This involves overseeing 50 colleges and 25 admissions offices on 5 continents.

Jones’s lifelong involvement with international education began after leaving Oxford University. He led student groups on adventure programs in the Middle East, the Indian Sub-Continent and the Himalayas. He later went on to organize expeditions in the Sahara and remote areas of French West Africa.

Since then Jones has been a pioneer in international education, developing businesses in Asia, Europe, North America and the Pacific. He was instrumental in building America’s largest operator of educational tours and for a decade was President of EF International Language Schools.

Having acquired the Aspect Education group in 2000, he was Chairman and CEO when the company became part of Kaplan Inc. in 2006.

Jones is a strong believer in the benefits of international education at the tertiary level, both for the students themselves and for the institutions in which they are enrolled.
